The Glass nail file is a nail file with the abrasive surface made of glass used to gently grind down and shape the edges of fingernails. They are often used in manicures and pedicures after the nail has been trimmed using appropriate nail clippers. == Origin == Both the idea to use glass for producing nail files, and the first-ever nail file made of glass, appeared on the territory of Switzerland in 1936. Swiss nail files didn't find expected popularity. Except for the material Swiss nail file didn't essentially differ from metal ones as it had almost the same structure of the polishing surface. The abrasive surface of the Swiss nail file was formed by laser engraving, with grooves in two directions. It had advantages: glass is not subject to oxidation, and Swiss nail file had good wear resistance. But the disadvantages were: usage on fingernails was unpleasant and painful. Also, the Swiss glass nail file was fragile, prone to breaking during use or transportation. In 1997 a radically new technology for making glass nail files was invented in the Czech Republic, using hardened Bohemian glass. The special procedure of thermal hardening resulted in advantages such as excellent shock-proofness and an extremely durable polishing surface. It had fine-grained steady abrasive surface, which allowed to grind ones nails without any pain and damaging fingernails structure. And by 1998 Czech glass nail file have already got enough popularity around the world and became the most sellable nail file in Europe. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Glass nail file」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
